Gilt mounting. Circular. On side and lid violet outlined rocailles in slight relief decorated with polychrome flower tendrils. Extraordinary fine polychrome painting, the lid with four playing cupids and sight of a landscape, the side with four cartouches depicting landscapes with playing cupids. The bottom with Venus resting with bow and arrow underneath trees. Inside the lid Venus sitting on waves, surrounded by sea gods and godesses, while above cupids and doves are hovering in the clouds. The landscapes reveal single elements of Saxon sights: The lid presumably depicts the sight of Schloß Hubertusburg, the bottom the Dresden skyline with Hofkirche. H.4, + 9cm. Condition B.
